Easier icon installation procedure Here is a suggestion on how to share desktop applications under CDE. The gzipped tar file "dt.tar" have the following tree structure:
The tar file should be unpacked on an NFS mounted location. The structure contains 4 icons and 4 other files to configure the desktop. After unpacking the tar file, you must edit two files:
and change the path "/mnt/share/..." to the location where you have unpacked the tar file. You might also have to edit dt/appconfig/types/C/EasyCopy.dt and change the command "ecx" to whatever script you use to start EasyCopy. Finally, on all machines where you want users to see EasyCopy on the Front Panel, you must copy the file dt/dt.easycopy.env to the directory /etc/dt/config/Xsession.d. You might need to create this directory first:
With this configuration you do not need to worry about individual users. All you need to do every time you get a new machine on your network, is to copy the "dt.easycopy.env" file as described above. Yo need to logout and login again to see the changes on the desktop. Note: The file "dt/appconfig/types/C/EasyCopy1.fp" defines where the EasyCopy action will appear on the users Front Panel. The setup I have made puts it in the Personal Applications container subpanel. The Personal Applications are normally placed in the 4'th row from the left on your Front Panel. Just click the arrow up button to open the subpanel and the EasyCopy icon should show up. Copyright © 1995-2005, AGI (autoGraph international). All rights reserved. www.augrin.com |
