Reliable Screen Capture
EasyCopy includes a screen capture or screen shot tool that makes it easy to take screen grabs on Windows, Linux and UNIX. Someone needs to include screenshots to assist
users, others to document work processes, to create great presentations - or to capture a long article or website using scroll window capture - or to create a video capture.
Finding the best screen capture tool is all about optimizing the work process of getting beautiful screen shots for the requirements you have
- and make a tedious and time consuming task fun at the same time.
Capture Anything
With EasyCopy, you may capture anything on your screen - easily.
Powerful tools for all your screen capture or screen shot requirements are an integrated part of EasyCopy and EasyCopy Montage.
Capture Anywhere
EasyCopy provides the same screen capture on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Linux, UNIX - Solaris, AIX, HP-UX - see details - including capture across multihead systems:
Special Linux and Unix features:
- X Enhanced mode which exploits the full EasyCapture functionality. This is the default mode. The original colors of individual
windows are preserved with any combination of windows. Even when a window appears in false colors on the screen due to color table overrun,
it is captured in its original colors and is saved correctly.
- XWD mode which is based on the standard xwd program. This mode offers a faster alternative when the target is not complex.
- OpenGL is handled by X Enhanced mode.
- On IBM RS/6000 and Silicon Graphics a special GL mode may be required to capture windows created by GL-based or other non-X applications.
- Capture of the local display and remote displays.
Screen Capture modes
This brief review of EasyCopy's screen capture modes can help you choose the best one for the task at hand:
Region Screen Capture
Draw a rubberband around a specific rectangular region of the screen that you want to capture. Quickly capture
the selected area of the screen, or part of a Web page.
Fixed Region Screen Capture
Predefine a box and move it to the rectangular region
of the screen that you want to capture.
Scroll Window Screen Capture
Capture all of the contents of any window or Web page that has a scrollbar. EasyCopy automatically scrolls the
scrolling window during the screen capture, so you get all of the images and text in the window. This capture mode is
perfect for saving directory listings or those long descriptions you find online. Print them or save them for easy reference later.

Auto (Video) Screen Capture
Capture a short video of your own
desktop activity. With EasyCopy
in this mode, and the Movie Creator
you can make quick tutorial videos
and animations to play in presentations
or share with others. See the AutoCapture dialog.

Autosave with Profiles
Get instant automatic screen shots by using the Autosave function. Choosing one of the predefined screen capture modes in
combination with a save as profile and your choice of hotkey turns a time consuming process into a fully automated screen capture
workflow. There are a few default profiles installed with EasyCopy to get you started, and it's easy to create new ones.
Without Autosave on, you can still use your save as profiles including destination directory and the optimal settings for your task and save your
screenshots in any of the supported formats including BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, PDF, TIFF, and more. See the entire list of supported file formats here.
Options
EasyCopy offers a few additional screen capture options to make the capture process easier and to help you communicate your screenshots more clearly.
These options allow you to:
- Include the cursor in your screen capture to show a viewer where to click
- Set up a time-delayed screen capture
- Capture to Clipboard
- Beep after capture
- Choose special settings for Linux and Unix
Hot Keys
EasyCopy can be operated by user defined hot keys, for example CTRL-W to capture a window, CTRL-F to capture the full
screen, etc.
You can use the graphical user interface of EasyCopy to configure hot keys.
You can also setup hot keys in your windows manager.
Command Line Capture
Command line capture is available for both Windows and UNIX.
